What the job looks like 
 
Each day you’ll enjoy a variety of challenges, such as: 
 
  • Leading microbiological testing activities, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting continuous improvement across Quality Control processes. In this role, you will supervise laboratory operations, develop analytical methods, and collaborate with cross-functional and global teams to drive excellence in quality and innovation.
  • Overseeing and ensuring the planning and execution of microbiological analysis for packaging materials, raw materials, semi‑finished and finished products, in compliance with GMP and internal procedures.
  • Coordinating microbiology laboratory personnel, ensuring competence, engagement, and development.
  • Supporting the Head of Quality Control in implementing programs aimed at improving processes and product quality, contributing to investment plans and budget preparation for the microbiology area.
  • Managing microbiological analysis related to ICH stability studies and follow-up programs and ensuring timely execution of environmental monitoring (air, water, surfaces, equipment).
  • Leading the development, validation, and optimization of microbiological analytical methods: analytical data review and validation for materials, products, and stability studies, analytical methods and SOPs revision within the area of responsibility.
  • Guaranteeing proper execution of cleaning validation using microbiological methodologies.
  • Ensuring the calibration and maintenance of laboratory instruments, maintaining compliance with safety, hygiene, and environmental regulations.
  • Stay current on new microbiological methods and relevant technologies.
  • Microbiological data analysis, delivering timely and accurate reports.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional and global teams (Quality, Production, OPEX) to resolve issues and drive continuous improvement.

 

What you’ll bring to the table

 

To make the most of this role and truly thrive, you should have:

 

  • Master’s degree in a scientific discipline (Biology, CTF, Pharmacy).
  • Strong expertise in microbiological techniques, chemical analysis knowledge is a plus.
  • Solid understanding of GMP and GLP guidelines within pharma production processes in a regulated environment.
  • Fluent English and Italian.
  • Experience with instrumental techniques and proficiency in LIMS and knowledge of ERP systems such as SAP.
  • Proven experience in developing, coaching, and inspiring teams with a strong change leadership and entrepreneurial mindset, proactive approach to identifying optimization opportunities and improving process, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a multicultural and fast-paced environment.
