What the job looks like
Each day you'll enjoy a variety of challenges, such as:
- Leading the development and implementation of biomarker and experimental medicine strategies for compounds within our pain portfolio
- Working collaboratively within cross-functional teams to design biomarker assessments within early clinical development trials and design, execute and report experimental medicine trials testing specific markers
- Lead the identification, evaluation and implementation of pain biomarker opportunities by integrating novel technologies, scientific literature and emerging internal data
- Be in charge of managing the biomarker assessment at CROs: selecting the assay / methodology, monitoring validation and stability assessments, trouble shoot and report the results.
- Building an external network of collaborations to gain access to the best scientific thinking around the exploration and development of novel biomarkers in relation to Grünenthal’s pain portfolio
What you’ll bring to the table
To make the most of this role and truly thrive, you should have:
- A collaborative mindset with a deep interest in facilitating the development of novel pain medications
- MD and/ or PhD with solid scientific background and >5 yrs experience of development/ application of biomarkers in clinical setting, including experience in an industry setting
- Practical knowledge of implementation of translational and biomarker strategies as part of early clinical development activities e.g. clinical pharmacology, experimental medicine trials, proof of concept studies
- Good working knowledge of clinical trial methodology and GCP/GxP guidelines
- Practical knowledge of working with and monitoring external partners (vendors, central laboratories and CROs) to deliver operational excellence under GCP/GxP guidelines
- Experience of working in a matrix environment
- Fluent in English language skills; German language skills beneficial
