What the job looks like
Each day you´ll enjoy a variety of challenges, such as:
 

  • Responsible for centralised ordering of consumables (reagents and chemicals) and where needed, assist in procurement of specialty materials and reagents inclusive budget tracking
  • Coordinate tasks necessary for the optimal function of the laboratories (e.g. equipment calibration, equipment maintenance and repair, maintenance of equipment lists, digital inventory inclusive maintaining stocks of key consumables, freezer and fridge management, autoclaving equipment) 
  • Keep Research System Landscape at state-of-the-art and actively support technology expansion
  • Helps to maintain strong safety culture and to maintain required standards and compliance (waste streams, PPE, biological and chemical safety) and help  identify and remedy safety-related shortcomings and/or site issues 
  • Act as PoC for IT support for lab equipment (e.g. software installation/updates, initial troubleshooting) 
  • Be the contact point for facilities maintenance and workshop for any repairs or infrastructure issues
  • Help with lab inductions for new starters including general lab safety information
  • Additional ad hoc activities may include support for: uploading of assay data into databases, drafting of confidentiality agreements and performance of online due diligence reviews,  (bulk)-registration of chemical structure, e.g. from chemical library vendors or contract synthesis CROs
  • Organizational support and deputy contact for shipping of samples (inbound and outbound)  
  • Establish, execute, review and evaluate laboratory procedures and policies for operating functions

 

What you´ll bring to the table
To make the most of this role and truly thrive, you should have:
 

  • Technical/Science qualification or academic degree
  • >5 years` experience in laboratory management in either pharma or academic setting
  • Proven experience with standard equipment of biology and chemistry labs and ideally also with lab automation and future lab approaches
  • Good Project Management skills with track record in collaborating with technical system & software vendors and with CROs
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills (English essential; additional knowledge of German is beneficial) 
  • Ability to work accurately and with attention to detail
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills 
  • Practical knowledge and application of laboratory technologies and equipment & safety standard including ability to support preparation of risk assessment and work instructions
