DMPK Scientist (m/f/d)
If you’re passionate about changing lives for the better, this is the opportunity you’ve been waiting for. In Research & Development, we’re continuously exploring innovative new treatment options to make a stronger, more positive impact on the lives of the patients we serve. You’ll work with talented colleagues in a state-of-the-art Research & Development environment, developing innovative medicines that change the live of patients for the better and help us make progress towards our vision of a world free of pain. Join us today, and discover the difference you can make.
What the job looks like
Each day you´ll enjoy a variety of challenges, such as:
- DMPK representative on discovery project teams influencing project progression from target validation through to candidate optimisation and selection.
- Lead the scientific and operational design, conduct, implementation, and analysis of discovery DMPK, ADME, and DDI studies for small molecule projects to support the progression of discovery projects towards candidate selection using state-of-the art computational, in vitro and in vivo technologies.
- Align with Medicinal Chemistry, Pharmacology, Pharmaceutical Sciences and Clinical to ensure human PK, PKPD and dose predictions are undertaken to aid project decision making from target validation through to candidate selection.
- Partner with Medicinal Chemistry to understand and optimise impact of physicochemical properties and structure of small molecules on DMPK and metabolism properties within drug discovery.
- Align with non-clinical safety to integrate PK and metabolism understanding into safety risk assessment, interpretation and quantitation/prediction of therapeutic margin of candidate molecules.
- Engage with Development DMPK and Clinicians to ensure human PK, PKPD, ADME and DDI predictions of candidate molecules are sufficiently robust to be utilised effectively in early clinical study design and dose selection.
- Engage with CROs and external consultants regarding conduct and interpretation of both discovery screening and investigative DMPK studies.
- Keep abreast of DMPK science through literature and conferences and look to publish work where possible.
What you´ll bring to the table
To make the most of this role and truly thrive, you should have:
- Educated to degree or PhD level in biological or pharmacological sciences or related field with at least 7 years experience gained working in DMPK discipline in industry, ideally with some experience as a DMPK project representative on discovery projects.
- Sound technical knowledge of ADME/DMPK principles for small molecules particularly in drug discovery and good understanding of their relationship to drug design, pharmacology and PKPD.
- Expert technical knowledge of at least one DMPK sub-discipline at laboratory level with track record of delivering experimental data to projects.
- Ability to design, initiate and oversee discovery DMPK/ADME studies at CROs with timely delivery of data and interpretation that drives DMPK optimisation in drug discovery.
- Track record of interpretation and reporting of DMPK studies to support decision making.
- Experienced in pharmacokinetic analysis with experience in use of software such as Phoenix/WinNonLin PK.
- Excellent written and communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a matrix environment, multi-task, meet deadlines and deal with evolving priorities.
