What the job looks like
Each day you'll enjoy a variety of challenges, such as:

  • Manage and facilitate transaction activities for strategic M&A and licensing deals in close cooperation with the assigned project leaders 
  • Set up and lead cross-functional due diligence teams to evaluate strategic transaction opportunities
  • Coordinate interactions with the senior management of the external party and negotiate due diligence requirements assuring efficient execution of a “state-of-the-art” due diligence incl. Q&A sessions as well as delivery of high quality assessments
  • Support project leaders in the development, challenge and validation of business cases as well as preparation of memos and presentations for Grünenthal’s Executive Board 
  • Steer and coordinate preparation of assessment outputs and recommendations for Grünenthal’s decision making bodies including due diligence summaries and due diligence reports; foster consistency of project assumptions and appropriate documentation
  • Support negotiation teams in optimization of contract design based on due diligence insights and during contract negotiations
  • Drive continuous optimization of due diligence requests, processes and tools (“lessons learned”)


Responsibilities will be worldwide, across regions and across different indications, ranging from marketed products and brands to R&D projects (all stages).

 

What you'll bring to the table
To make the most of this role and truly thrive, you should have:

  • A University degree in economics, finance, natural sciences or legal, MBA is an asset 
  • Over 4 years relevant experience in M&A and Licensing in international pharmaceutical / biotech business or related background, including business development, strategic planning, R&D, consulting, equity analysis, venture capital, or investment banking
  • Strong understanding of Life Sciences and the pharmaceutical process including (pre-)clinical development, regulatory, safety, CMC / supply chain, and commercialization strategies as well as IP, business legal and compliance; experience in R&D of new medicines a plus  
  • Demonstrated first-hand involvement in managing and leading complex assessments and valuation processes for strategic transactions 
  • Proven track-record of leadership / project management of global matrix teams
  • Strong team player with an integrating, proactive, result-driven and solution-oriented mindset and good interpersonal skills 
  • High customer orientation, flexibility and ability to adapt to fast changing project frameworks
  • Strategic and analytical thinking, high commitment to facts and figures with an “eye for detail” – at the same time strategic focus and pragmatic approach
  • Business-fluent and proficient verbal and written skills in English as must have
