What the job looks like

Each day you´ll enjoy a variety of challenges, such as:

  • Acting as trusted business partner for global stakeholders up to executive level
  • Acting primarily for clinical trial services and support all other categories in the R&D Development area (e.g. Reg. Affairs, Drug Safety, CMC, CTS, Data Science, etc.) enabling strategy execution with your business partner acumen
  • Owning, managing and delivering on full procurement value agenda for area of responsibility incl. ROI based sourcing, sustainability and ESG, supplier resilience and innovation
  • Defining and driving sourcing strategies and sourcing execution in alignment with business stakeholders, leading the creation and delivery of savings pipeline based on defined initiatives
  • Having the oversight and understanding of your spend universe as well as managing key strategic supplier relationships (SRM)
  • Giving guidance to sourcing managers mainly about tactical sourcing activities, build and engage the procurement network
  • Managing larger / key tenders and conducting negotiations with key suppliers
  • Driving and implementing excellence in R&D Development procurement, based on fundamental knowledge of trends and drivers in R&D sourcing markets, supplier cost structures, knowledge of state-of-the-art procurement tools and processes, etc.
  • Contributing to change and continuous improvement initiatives in the Global Procurement context

 

What you´ll bring to the table

To make the most of this role and truly thrive, you should have:

  • A University Degree in relevant field
  • Relevant practical experience of 8+ years in a comparable role or as category manager for clinical trial sourcing
  • Experience in managing and conducting larger scale negotiations (around €100m contracts) as well as experience in categories close to clinical trials (e.g. Regulatory Affairs, CMC, CTS, Drug Safety, Medical Writing, Biosampling, Data Science) is considered a strong advantage
  • Strategic and practical expertise in procurement processes as well as knowledge and/or experience of pre-clinical sourcing is a plus
  • Understanding of supply markets in R&D Development and experience in leading without formal line management (e.g. project teams)
  • Passion about continuous improvement with a track record on initiatives implemented, excellent strategic and analytical thinking as well as strong interpersonal understanding & communication skills
  • Excellent stakeholder management & networking skills and ability to inspire and motivate others
  • Fluent business English, German is considered beneficial
