What the job looks like
Each day brings a variety of exciting challenges, including:
- Becoming a valued member of the Innovation Chemistry team, where you'll contribute to the preparation of biologically active compounds using your expertise in organic chemistry and creative problem-solving.
- Supporting drug discovery campaigns by designing and enabling multi-step synthetic routes and getting introduced to accompanied medicinal chemistry design aspects.
- Focusing on reaction optimization and library synthesis by developing and executing tailored automated synthesis workflows, applying state-of-the-art synthetic methodologies and using an automated synthesis platform and digital tools.
- Actively engaging in your professional development supported by a mentor including scientific publishing aligned with business objectives, coaching sessions and performance reviews.
- Participating in structured training programs for all graduates and being part of the Global Graduate Network.
What you'll bring to the table
To thrive in this role, you should have:
- A PhD in chemistry, with strong experience in organic synthesis and modern synthetic methods and a proven track record of creativity and independence in solving complex scientific challenges (publications in peer-reviewed journals).
- A passion for working in a lab-based environment, good planning skills and the ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks effectively.
- An interest in automated synthesis, reaction screening (DoE), handling large (reaction-) datasets and basic programming skills (previous hands-on experience in those areas is a plus).
- A proactive mindset and excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively within cross-functional teams to achieve common project goals.
- Full working proficiency in English (German language skills or a willingness to learn are a plus).
