What the job looks like
Each day you'll enjoy a variety of challenges, such as:

  • You will be responsible for the strategic and operational management of a dedicated team of electrophysiology scientists and technicians
  • You will provide an operational framework for the electrophysiology function so that it can effectively make a strategic impact on progression of internal programs through: 
    • Implementation of quality and design procedures for experimental studies that are focussed on the production of robust and high quality data
    • Identification of strategic opportunities to develop or expand existing methods/ technologies/ external network
    • Building a knowledge and resource centre for electrophysiological expertise across Research
  • You will identify opportunities for the strategic support of cross-functional research areas (e.g. target validation, neuronal circuitry, biomarkers and experimental medicine) and external collaborations
  • You will ensure that there is a strategic integration and interpretation of data in order to progress robust decision making in projects and/or develop platforms


What you'll bring to the table
To make the most of this role and truly thrive, you should have:

  • You are a PhD level neuroscientist/ pharmacologist with several years post-doctoral experience in academia and/ or industry, preferably in pain research or a related area
  • You remain a committed lab-leader scientist with high level and wide range of experience in electrophysiological techniques (e.g. single cell/ automated patch-clamp, multielectrode arrays) applied to isolated cells, in vitro culture systems and tissue sections
  • You are truth seeking and delivery focused, a driven/passionate scientist with strong focus on creating value, problem solving and making things happen
  • You enjoy building and developing an environment for your team to excel and thrive
