What the job looks like
Each day you'll enjoy a variety of challenges, such as:

  • Being part of a dedicated team that is responsible for generating a deeper understanding of disease mechanisms in chronic pain and transferring that knowledge to develop and establish preclinical in vitro/ex vivo models of human disease
  • Supporting internal lab activities to improve understanding of molecular pathophysiology and to identify opportunities to mimic human disease in current translational models (e.g. primary cells, iPSC-derived neurons, explants, slices)
  • Independently design and execute laboratory experiments, apply advanced data analysis, integration and interpretation with an emphasis on providing appropriate context for data and experiments in order to progress programs and/or develop platforms
  • Providing clear written reports of experiments, position papers and presentations for internal use within Research

 

What you'll bring to the table
To make the most of this role and truly thrive, you should have:

  • PhD in life sciences with a background in cellular, molecular biology and preferably neuroscience 
  • A strong interest in translational research and building disease models
  • Being a committed lab-based scientist with a proven track record working with primary neuronal cultures and tissues as well as previous experience in optimizing cell isolation, freezing or cell culture protocols
  • Ideally hands-on experience with advanced cell culture formats (e.g. microfluidics, 3D cultures, explants/slices or organoids) 
  • A general understanding of systems biology approaches is a plus
