What the job looks like
Each day you'll enjoy a variety of challenges, such as:

  • Being part of a dedicated Translational Medicine team that is responsible for building biomarker, experimental medicine & imaging strategies that are aligned with the pipeline status of the project
  • Collaborating with project teams to implement these strategies in line with the development status of the project
  • Using your expertise in imaging to assess preclinical and clinical opportunities to build further disease understanding and/ or experimental medicine approaches
  • Developing an external network to support imaging needs within the translational science area
  • Providing clear written reports of experiments, position papers and presentations for internal use within Research and as required contribute to the preparation of documentation to support regulatory applications
  • Using strategic thinking to set a vision of how imaging as a biomarker in the pain area can be used and optimized to further enhance the development and approval of Grünenthal assets. Clearly communicate this through a network of key stakeholders across the organisation. 

What you'll bring to the table
To make the most of this role and truly thrive, you should have:

  • MD/PhD level scientist with translational sciences background, preferably in a relevant pain or neurosciences area, with several years practical experience in the preclinical and clinical application of imaging techniques in drug R&D in academia, CRO or pharma
  • Direct and extensive experience of planning and executing translational strategies in a highly virtual setup with external partners
  • Proven track record of delivering several successful milestone transitions for drug discovery projects based on demonstrated biomarker-imaging data
  • Familiarity with clinical pharmacology and translational clinical trials, i.e., proof of mechanism studies
  • Proven experience with contracting and overseeing external vendors, central laboratories and CROs to implement biomarker, experimental medicine & imaging strategies and ensure execution excellence under GCP/GLP guidelines
  • Understanding of in vitro/ in vivo pharmacology
  • Excellent communication skills and an ability to simplify complex technology concepts to non-experts
  • Proven track record in leading and working in teams based upon a matrix reporting is a must
  • Fluent business English language skills in speaking and writing, German language skills beneficial
  • Broad international & intercultural working experiences
