What the job looks like
Each day you'll enjoy a variety of challenges, such as:

  • Leading the development of the translation and biomarker strategies for compounds within our pain portfolio and ensuring their implementation in preclinical and clinical studies
  • Building an external network of collaborations to gain access to the best scientific thinking around the exploration and development of novel biomarkers in relation to Grünenthal’s pain portfolio
  • Working collaboratively within cross-functional teams to help design scientific experiments that are focused on developing a deeper understanding of the activity of target and drug mechanism(s)
  • Supporting the identification, evaluation and implementation of pain biomarker opportunities by integrating novel technologies, scientific literature and emerging internal data


What you'll bring to the table
To make the most of this role and truly thrive, you should have:

  • A PhD degree and preferably several years of neuroscience experience in drug development with expertise in pharmacology and/or translational sciences
  • A collaborative mindset with a deep interest in facilitating the development of novel pain medications
  • Hands-on experience of planning and implementing translational and biomarker strategies in support of early clinical development activities e.g. clinical pharmacology, experimental medicine trials, proof of concept studies
  • Hands-on experience of contracting and overseeing external partners (vendors, central laboratories and CROs) to deliver operational excellence under GCP/cGLP guidelines
  • Proven track record in leading and working in teams based upon a matrix reporting
  • Fluent business English language skills in speaking and writing, German language skills beneficial
