This is your chance to use all of the skills you picked up at university within an organisation that has a clear vision – to drive progress towards a world free of pain. We’ll make sure you have the training and support you need to make a flying start to your working life

What you can expect

We offer opportunities across a wide variety of teams including Research & Development, Global Operations, Commercial, Marketing & Sales, and Central Functions. Over two years, you’ll move between different departments and get to know your colleagues while gaining valuable insights into how our company works.

In each team, you’ll have a mentor who will give you expert advice and support as you learn and grow with us. You’ll also have the chance to attend seminars and workshops throughout the programme. If you show us your ambition, your passion for teamwork and your determination to make an impact, we’ll offer you a position at the end of the programme.

What you'll be doing

Your programme will focus on one of these three key areas over two years: Research & Development, Global Operations and Supporting Functions (e.g. Finance & Controlling)

You’ll gain broad experience, you’ll be involved in strategic tasks, and we’ll give you responsibility from the very beginning.

Each rotation will feature an integration and learning phase. This will give you the chance to learn more about each area of the business and get to know your colleagues. You’ll then be assigned a project – and you’ll take full ownership for the outcome.

At every stage, you’ll learn more about Grünenthal and the unique requirements of the pharmaceutical industry. We’ll also give you the chance to take on international projects, which could open up opportunities to work abroad later in your career.

We know how important it is for graduates to have a strong support network, so you’ll be able to attend regular breakfast and lunch meetings with your fellow graduates, as well as networking events and team days.

Training and development

The rotational nature of the programme means you’ll always be learning new things. There will be a lot to take in, but your mentor will work with you to structure your individual programme and find the best possible way of moving you forward in your career.

You’ll also have a buddy in each department to give you insights into the daily workings of the team. They’ll make sure you have interesting projects to explore and they’ll give you constructive feedback at the end of your rotation.

On top of this, you’ll have access to internal and external training that will help you get ready to take the next steps in your career.

“Our graduate program is based on three pillars: training, autonomy and impact. Training to increase capabilities of our future leaders, well define projects and assignments where under a high degree of autonomy our graduates can generate an impact in the organization.”
Javier Martin, Head Global Strategy & Development Operations and one of our mentors

Graduate stories

Andrew, Graduate in Global Operations – Quality Assurance

Quality Assurance (QA) refers to any systematic process that’s used to determine if a product or service meets quality standards. Andrew has been working in this area as part of his graduate programme.

“Every day, I learn more about the fascinating process of drug development, and how we make sure that quality is part of everyone’s mindset. I’m part of a close, supportive group of like-minded graduates, which gives me confidence and creates a strong feeling of togetherness.”

Christian, Graduate in Finance & Controlling

Every graduate enjoys something different about our programme. For some, the highlight is their role. For others, it’s our culture or the scope for development. At Grünenthal, we’re passionate about providing opportunities and creating an environment that makes work enjoyable.

“It’s professionally and personally enriching to work alongside people from other countries. I learned a lot about myself during the free full-day workshops about social skills.”

Ana, Graduate in R&D-Global Drug Safety

Global Drug Safety is a scientific department assuring patient and drug safety. Ana has been primarily working in a team that performs medico-scientific assessment to assure appropriate characterisation of benefit-risk profile of our products.

“Assuring patient safety has been my passion for years. However, I wanted a start in the industry with the broader understanding of our main internal stakeholders and corporate culture. The Graduate programme was the best to accommodate those wishes. Broad catalogue of trainings for young talents, internal job-rotations and a great team spirit among graduates, is something every junior colleague could wish for.”
